Oak Motors have been based at the Stour Valley Business Park for nearly 20 years. As a family business, they pride themselves on giving a personal and friendly service and, although the recent recession has meant they have had to look carefully at all their operations to keep competitive, they have managed to retain a loyal customer base and are starting to see business growing again.
The business is run by local family members from Boughton near Canterbury: Jobi (father), Kate and Lawrence (daughter and son) plus long serving loyal staff. Kate and Lawrence joined as the family business expanded. The final member of the family whom is always present at the garage is Piper a 3 year old Jack Russell cross.
“Moving to the Stour Valley Business Park in 1992 was important to us being able to develop the business. We have the space and facilities to service and repair up to 10 cars and light commercial vehicles at a time. And we’ve been able to introduce while you wait MOT services as well as express exhaust, brake and tyre fitting,” explains Kate. “The park is easy to find with plenty of parking, and Tony Skelton has been very accommodating as a landlord, helping us get the workshops set up just as we need them.
There’s no denying the last couple of years have been tough, but we’re emerging from recession stronger than before. Our customers need their vehicles back on the road quickly, with any problems sorted without fuss. They know we give a good and trustworthy service.”
In addition to the MOT while you wait facility the business also includes a recognised accident and repair department and spray shop offering work at a competitive price.
